Hohnen Ford
It all begins with an idea.
Born and raised in North London, Hohnen Ford grew up immersed in London’s vibrant Jazz scene, becoming fixated on instrumental jazz music of the 20th Century and later studying Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music.
During her time at the Royal Academy, Ella wrote and performed extensively in various ensembles around the UK, whilst privately developing her own sound, inspired by the songwriting of Joni Mitchell, Bjork, David Longstreth, Stevie Wonder, Big Thief, Gillian Welch, and the composers of the Great American Songbook. The undeniable charm of Hohnen Ford’s live-streamed home performances allowed her to cultivate a devoted online following during the writing and recording of her debut release which she has since built upon.
Following her well received premiere EP, Infinity, Hohnen Ford’s most recent release Honest Mistake marks the first taste of what is to come on her debut album. The album, to be released by Giant Music, will represent the development of her already both charismatic and distinctive style.
Cali Santo
It all begins with an idea.
Cali Santo is the captivating solo project of of singer-songwriter Ben Bishop. From his boho home studio nestled in the rolling South Down hills, Ben has developed a deftness for fusing heartfelt lyricism with celestial arrangements.
‘Future Fear‘, his first fully fledged release as Cali Santo, is a mindful meander through adolescence, refracting tropes of classic rock and Americana, effortlessly transporting you from lush filmic soundscape of California to fireside intimacy from one moment to the next.
Ben’s second EP Holy Pines displays a more stripped back playful edge and is an excellent example of his sonic range.
Welcome musical references include Nick Mulvey, Neil Young, Midlake, Blizten Trapper, Villagers, Big Thief and Memorial (who he is currently on tour with),with the expansive sonics of War on Drugs & S Carey.
He is currently working on his debut album with the wonderful Tim Bidwell (Lucy Rose, Memorial, Kate Walsh, Fink) as well as putting his writing and production skills into full effect with and for other artists.
